A handmade canvas tote full of handcrafted treasures. From Armenia, with love.
In 2014, textile designer Tatev Sayadyan returned to her native Yerevan after several years spent living and working in Los Angeles.
We partnered with her to design a tote inspired by the countless iterations of the eternity symbol and other traditional carvings that adorn Armenia’s historic structures. The design was silkscreened, handles dyed and the Armenia-made canvas (we were told there was no such thing, but found some in Goris!) was sewn in Yerevan--all by hand.
On the back of the tote, we featured the #Toprakpetqchi (Armenian transliteration for “No bag needed”) hashtag in solidarity with the eponymous movement to encourage the use of reusable bags in Armenia and protect its environment.
